Happy Birthday Maia! I wish I could have been there with you to celebrate! Sarah, you did a great job on the cake, and the eyes look good.
Maia is looking so much like you in those pictures it’s scary!
Love you and miss you!

Sarah, did you actually make that cake?!? No way! How long did it take you? What a bonus to having girls, eh? You get to create cool cakes. I’m with Ruth, Maia is a lovely Sarah look-a-like. Does she play anything yet on the keyboard?

Sarah,
Do you remember when we made those wedding cakes at that sleep over at your house SOOOO many years ago??? They turned out really well, too. I’ll never forget how good those cakes tasted. It was good practice for all the birthday cakes we’ll be making the rest of our lives. LOL This one is beautiful and looks like it was a lot of work. Great job!

Hey, Al! I’m getting to be a pro at the Wilton cakes - I’ve got it down to about an hour of decorating. Which seems silly in retrospect, but my Mom used to do it for us and it just seems like the right thing to do. And Wilton’s has the coolest cake pans! Sherri, I bet you get LOTS of cake-decorating practice!! Do you do these specialty cakes for your kids? Because for me, two times a year is quite enough cake decorating!

Oh, and Maia does play something on the keyboard, actually — LOUDLY!!! With a lot of laser sound effects and loud unintelligible lyrics. Our poor neighbors.

I’m giggling as I imagine Maia playing away on her keyboard. How funny! You should record her for posterity’s (and the blogging community’s) sake. An hour of decorating?!? Wow, that’s dedication! Those are memories your girls will cherish forever and will probably use in their own families one day! I’m totally clueless about wilton cakes - never even heard of them. I’d love to do something fun like that for Chloe. I might be contacting you next August.
